The Brain Games

What will your September challenge be?

WHAT IS THE BRAIN GAMES?

The Brain Games is Encephalitis International's own fundraising challenge. We are inviting members of our community to set themselves a daily challenge for the 30 days of September to celebrate our 30th anniversary as a non-profit.

Examples of challenge you could set yourself

  • Walk/Run for 30 minutes for the 30 days of September to celebrate our 30th birthday!
  • Complete 3 puzzles a day
  • Cook a new meal every day

We want to help you achieve something great this September and can't wait to see what you'll come up with!

WHY TAKE PART?

By taking part in The Brain Games you are not only improving your own health and wellbeing, but you are also helping to save lives.

One person is diagnosed with encephalitis every minute across the world, and life for them and their loved ones may never be the same again.

By raising vital funds for the Encephalitis International, you are helping us to accelerate understanding and awareness of encephalitis and ensuring that those affected by this serious neurological condition get the crucial help and support they need, both today and in the future.

WHAT IS ENCEPHALITIS?

Here are five facts about this often devastating neurological condition.

HOW WILL YOUR FUNDRAISING HELP?

SUPPORT

This year over 500,000 people worldwide will be diagnosed with encephalitis - that is one person every minute!

Encephalitis International provides support to people affected and their families alongside working with health professionals to develop easy-to-understand resources that can help rehabilitation and recovery.

We are here for anyone who needs emotional or practical help, whether it is through our helpline, peer support groups or member events.

RESEARCH

Encephalitis International works with health professionals, scientists and organisations, such as the World Health Organization, on ground-breaking research into encephalitis.

This includes funding researchers in low-to-middle income countries, organising the only encephalitis-focused conference in the world, and ensuring healthcare professionals have access to the latest information on the diagnosis, treatment and care of people with encephalitis.

AWARENESS

By taking part in The Brain Games, you are helping us to raise awareness of encephalitis among your friends, family and wider support networks.

Around 77% of people have never heard of encephalitis and we are committed to changing this. Your support will also go towards our awareness raising activities such as World Encephalitis Day which reached over 222 million people in over 100 countries through a targeted media and PR campaign.

TOGETHER WE CAN SAVE LIVES

Earlier this year, we sat down with members of our community across the globe to launch our World Encephalitis Day appeal. Together, they spoke to the importance of our work helping provide training opportunities for medical professionals globally to improve earlier recognition and treatment of this devastating brain condition.
